Digital Dictation and More in the Palm of Your Hand

MobileMD is DVI’s state-of-the-art portable digital dictation solution that enables care providers to dictate into any supported Windows-CE or Pocket-PC device. Care providers will gain the portability and ease of use that has sustained the popularity of analog cassette recorders, yet MobileMD incorporates the benefits of digital dictation – high quality voice, effective dictation management, and immediate availability for transcription or speech recognition.

Key Benefits

  • Seamless: Portable dictation fully integrated VoicePower system
  • Touch Screen: Convenient and easy to use
  • Multi-functional: Dictate, write scripts, check patient schedules or read e-mail. One device does it all!
  • Non-Proprietary: Several devices/manufacturers to choose from
  • Wise Investment: Device of choice for medical caregiver applications

Digital Dictation in the Palm of Your Hand

Dictate patient reports while remaining mobile and un-tethered. Select a patient from the list to dictate a report, or create a new file entering patient and report identifiers by touching the screen with your finger or pen. Standard dictation features include record, play, rewind, fast-forward, insert and delete. Once dictations are created, simply dock the portable device at a workstation with MobileMD workstation software to quickly and automatically download the information to the VoicePower system.

The Look and Feel of a Hand-Held Cassette Recorder

DVI’s MobileMD takes the functionality of a Pocket PC device to a new level by using buttons on the device’s case to stimulate the familiar feel of a hand-held cassette recorder. Data input is accomplished through touch screen entry, bar code entry (if a bar code-enabled device is used) or through an HL7 interface to the host ADT system.

MobileMD provides a range of dictation modes for maximum flexibility and uninterrupted productivity. For example, care providers can dictate in free-form mode when patient data is not available – or, when patient data is available via download of CPR – they can easily and clearly associate dictation with a specific patient.

Integration with DVI’s VoicePower Server

MobileMD can generate either a standard WAV file or it can compress the dictation file for increased voice storage and faster transmission times. Voice storage capacity is based strictly on the amount of flash-ROM available to the device. When the user is ready to transmit one or more dictations, the user simply places the device in a cradle attached to a PC. The voice files and associated data are then transmitted over an LAN/WAN, modem or Internet to VoicePower.

Workflow Management

As dictations are received and integrated into the DVI system, they are routed to the appropriate transcriptionist with all tracking and reporting information.

Transcription managers have the ability to track exactly when a file was dictated and when it was transmitted to a Voice Recorder via LAN/WAN, modem or Internet. This feature provides integrated management of voice files and productivity measurements regardless of the source of the dictation file.
